Found cheaper
How to set up the “Found cheaper” form in the Trust template for OpenCart 3: fields, required fields, phone mask, notifications to the manager, the request list and how to process requests.
The product page has a “Found cheaper?” link. The customer clicks it, leaves contacts and a link to a cheaper offer, and you decide: give a discount or win the customer back another way. For the store it is a signal of where competitors offer better prices and a chance not to lose the order.

Open Octemplates → Modules → Found cheaper.
Settings

General
- Status — a disabled module removes the button and the form from the product page. Requests already sent stay in the list.
Notifications
- Notification status — when on, a message about every new request goes to the given email (and by SMS if a template is set up in the SMS Notify module).
- Mail for notifications — enter several addresses separated by commas. Required if notifications are on.
The email contains all request data and a link to the product.
Form fields
For each field choose a mode: “Disabled” — the field isn’t in the form, “Enabled” — the field is there but can be left empty, “Enabled and required” — the form can’t be sent without it.
| Field | Notes |
|---|---|
| Name | The customer’s name, up to 32 characters. |
| Phone | The number is validated against the country masks from the template settings. |
| The address the manager can reply to. | |
| Link | A link to the page with the cheaper offer — the main field of this form. |
| Comment | A free text field for extra details. Always optional. |
Tip. Make only the link and phone or email required: so you can check the offer and get in touch. The fewer required fields, the more requests you receive.
Request list
The “Requests list” tab shows all requests from the form. Counters at the top: total requests, new and processed. The tab itself shows the number of new ones.

- User — name, phone, email, comment and the links to the product and to the cheaper offer;
- Added — the request date;
- Processed — a switch: mark it when you’ve replied to the customer. Processed rows fade, so new ones don’t get lost.
You can delete single requests, selected ones or all at once with the “Delete all” button.
How to process requests
Check the offer
Open the link from the request — is the price really lower, is it the same product and is it in stock.
Contact the customer
Give a discount, offer a gift or explain the difference (warranty, service, original product).
Mark it processed
Turn on the switch in the request list.
“Found cheaper” requests help you track competitors’ prices. If the same item is constantly found cheaper — it’s time to review its price.
