How to add a “Recently viewed” block with products a customer opened recently in the Trust template for OpenCart 3: settings, limits for desktop, tablet and phone, placing it in a layout.
The block shows a customer the products they opened recently in the store. It’s handy for going back to a product they liked and comparing options.
The list is stored in the browser cookie (and in the session for new visitors), so every customer has their own. Until a customer has viewed anything, the block isn’t shown on the site.
How to connect
Create the module
Open Extensions → Extensions → Modules, find Octemplates - Viewed products, click “Install” and then “Add”.
Set it up
Set the name, title, limit and image size — see below.

Add the module to a layout
In Design → Layouts open the layout you need — for example, “Product” or “Home” — and add the module to the position where the block should appear. Save the layout.
Where to put it. It works best under the product description and on the home page. A block on the cart page helps bring the customer back to products they set aside earlier.
Settings
| Field | What to enter |
|---|---|
| Module name | Only you see it: this is how the module is called in the module list and layouts. For example, “Viewed — home”. |
| Status | A disabled module isn’t shown on the site. |
| Module title | Shown above the products. Set it for each site language (3 to 64 characters), for example “Recently viewed”. |
| Limit | Three numbers separated by “/”: how many products on desktop / tablet / phone. 10/6/6 is recommended. |
| Show quantity selection? | A quantity selector appears in product cards next to the “Buy” button. |
| Width × height | Product image size in the block, from 1 to 300 px. 200 × 200 is recommended. |
What counts as a view
- A product is added to the list when the customer opens its page.
- The newest views come first, duplicates aren’t repeated.
Several blocks
You can create several copies of the module with different limits, titles and looks and place them in different layouts: a compact block of 6 products in the cart and a larger one of 10 on the home page.
