Smart Register
How to set up simplified registration in the Trust template for OpenCart 3: form fields, customer group choice, password rules, address, custom fields with conditions and the redirect after registration.
Smart Register replaces the standard OpenCart registration page with a short form: only the fields you need, in the order you need. Turn the module off and the store goes back to the standard registration.
Open Octemplates → Modules → Smart Register - registration.

Main settings

| Setting | What it does |
|---|---|
| Status | Enables the simplified registration form. |
| Newsletter Subscription | A “Yes / No” newsletter choice in the form. |
| Customer Group Selection on Registration | The customer picks a group — for example, retail or wholesale. In “Selectable groups” tick which groups to show; none ticked — all are shown. |
| Minimum password length | From 4 to 40 characters. |
| Password confirmation | A “Confirm password” field that checks both passwords match. |
| Redirect | Where the customer goes after registering: success page, account, previous page or a custom link (for example, a sale page). |
If the customer group requires administrator approval, the success page always opens after registration.
Form fields
First name, last name, telephone, email, fax and password — turn on the ones you need and drag them by the handle on the left to change the order.

For each field you can set:
- Required — whether the customer must fill it in;
- Display For — always, only guests or only registered customers;
- Field visibility conditions — for which customer groups and countries the field is needed. A hidden field is neither validated nor saved;
- Edit Localization — your own name and hint for each language. Empty — the default text;
- Phone Mask — for the telephone field, for example
+1 (999) 999-9999.
Email and password are always required. Telephone becomes required if registration confirmation by SMS is enabled — the “Registration confirmation” template in the SMS Notify module.
Custom fields
Your own fields — for example, “Date of birth” or “Company name”. These are standard OpenCart custom fields with the “Account” location; values are stored in the customer profile.
Create a field
Click “Create field” and set the name, type (text, select, radio, checkboxes, date and so on), default value, validation (a regular expression, for example
/^\d{8}$/— exactly 8 digits) and options for lists.Add it to the form
Pick the field in “Choose Custom Field”, click “Add Custom Field” and save the module.
Address
If you need an address at registration, add its fields: country, region, city, address, postcode, company or your own address fields. Pick a field in “Choose an address field” and add it.

The region loads for the selected country and is hidden if the country has no regions. The postcode becomes required if the country needs it. If no address field is added, the address block isn’t shown and no address is created.
