Price Tracking
How to set up Price Tracking in the Trust theme for OpenCart 3: subscription form, cron, customer email, requests list and notification log.
Under the price on the product page there is a link "Want to know when the price changes?". The visitor leaves an email, and as soon as the product price changes, they get an email. It brings back people who looked at a product but were waiting for a discount.

Open Octemplates → Modules → Price Tracking.
Cron is required. Prices are checked by the hosting task scheduler. Without it subscriptions are collected but no emails are sent. Setup is described below.
Settings
![]()
Module
- Module enabled — when off, the link disappears from the product page, the "Price tracker" section is hidden from the customer account and emails stop. Collected subscriptions are kept.
Subscription form
- Email — always shown and required: the email is sent to it.
- "Name" field — required, up to 32 characters. Inserted into the email instead of
[customer_name]. Filled in automatically for registered customers. - "Phone" field — required, with country masks from the theme settings. If the "Price Tracking" template is enabled in SMS Notify, the customer also gets an SMS.
Price check
- Cron password — protects the cron link from outsiders. Created on install; the button on the right generates a new one. After changing it, save the settings and update the command in the scheduler.
- Cron command — copy it and add it to the hosting task scheduler, for example every 30 minutes. The "Run the check now" button runs the check manually and shows how many notifications were sent.
- Check when a product is saved — after a product is saved in the admin, the check runs immediately for it if it has subscriptions. No need to wait for cron. A saved cron password is required.
Tip. When you change a price or start a promotion, enable "Check when a product is saved": subscribers get the email right away.
Customer email
![]()
By default a standard email is sent in the language the customer used when subscribing: name, product name, old and new price and a link to the product.
To write your own email, enable "Custom email template". Subject and text are required for every language, the text must be at least 30 characters. You can insert shortcodes into the subject and text (click a shortcode to copy it):
| Shortcode | Replaced with |
|---|---|
[customer_name] | Customer name |
[product_name] | Product name |
[old_price] | Price when subscribed |
[new_price] | New price |
[product_url] | Link to the product |
[store_name] | Store name |
Requests
The "Requests" tab holds all subscriptions with filters by email, product, name and status.
![]()
- Customer — name, email, phone; a "guest" mark for unregistered customers;
- Product and the language the customer used;
- Price when subscribed — in the currency the customer chose on the site;
- Status — "Waiting for change" or "Notified".
After the first price change the customer gets one email and the subscription becomes "Notified". To keep tracking, they have to subscribe again. Requests deleted here also disappear from the customer account.
Notification log
![]()
Each row is an email sent to a customer: old and new price, the difference (green — the price dropped, red — it rose), date and status "Sent" or "Error". Prices are converted to the store's default currency.
How it works
Subscription
The visitor clicks the link under the price and enters an email (plus name and phone if those fields are on). The subscription appears with the status "Waiting for change".
Check
Cron compares the current price (including special price and tax, in the customer's currency) with the price at subscription time. Any change of 0.01 or more — up or down — counts.
Notification
The customer gets an email, the subscription becomes "Notified" and a log entry is added.
Registered customers see their subscriptions in their account, in the "Price tracker" section, and can delete them.
